Bridesmaids Dresses
From the moment we were engaged I knew who I wanted to stand beside me on my special day. I already had an idea of our color palette thanks to some beautiful inspiration I had seen just weeks earlier, so I assigned bridesmaid dress colors to each of my closest friends based on which color I thought would best flatter their features while reflecting the color-filled vision I had for our special day.
Finding the perfect bridesmaid dresses proved a bit more difficult than I imagined! I wanted satin material, different styles yet cohesive, colorful, but not pastel and not too bright- more deeply saturated to fit the "late summer garden party" vibe I had in mind. And apparently I'm not the only one that had a hard time nailing down this detail of our day. A few months ago I uploaded some of our wedding photos to Pinterest and have since then received several messages from brides loving our wedding colors that are having the same struggles with bridesmaid dresses. Some have asked how I found fun, colorful bridesmaid dresses because they're looking for something similar to what we had and I'm happy to help. Here's how I did it...
I created a Pinterest board so I could visualize colors, styles and materials next to each other to make sure things didn't clash. At first, I went to a few sites I liked (HelloMolly, Meshki, Lulus, etc.) and searched basic descriptions like "pink satin dress" or "orange midi dress". I pinned a few dresses of each bridesmaid color I was looking for and sorted through them to see which ones looked good together and which shades I preferred. I quickly learned not to search for specific shades on any of the sites I was browsing because every brand calls different colors and shades different names. To double check the color shades I looked at the reviews and searched for real photos to see if the dresses were true to color shown. I found most of them were a touch more saturated in the review photos, which was perfect for what I wanted.
I had an extremely difficult time finding the shade of orange I wanted because I wanted a true, summery orange. I didn't want peach, pumpkin, burnt orange or rust. I ended up finding the perfect dress in the perfect color on Poshmark of all places! (The brand was ASOS as mentioned above and the color name was rust, but it was more saturated/orange in person :)
If I had a sixth bridesmaid, I would have added a lavender dress into the mix. At one point I considered swapping out the orange for lavender, but I love the color orange and just couldn't leave it out. While I was looking for dresses I found several lavender ones that would have worked, so that may be an easier color and shade to work into your palette.
After I found a few options for each bridesmaid, I offered to let them find one they liked. They could choose from the ones I selected, or find their own as long as it was a satin midi dress and closely resembled the shades I narrowed down for them- I didn't care at all what neckline or silhouette they preferred. Most of them chose the ones I selected and one found a dress on her own, which was perfect. I am so happy with how the dresses, styles and colors turned out! It was a mixture of brands, so again, the color names won't be consistent on other sites when searching, but here are the colors, brands and bridesmaid dresses we used:
Magenta, Navy & Olive dresses from HelloMolly
Lemon dress from Meshki
Rust (orange) dress from ASOS
Unfortunately, I don't think any of the actual dresses we used are still available, but lots of very similar ones are. In addition to those available on the sites we used, I've also found similar options available here!
And here are some specific dresses I found that also fit the late summer saturated, satin midi/maxi vibe.

No Mess Confetti Streamers- this was one of my favorite finds for our wedding! I was looking for something fun like confetti, but didn't want to make a huge mess for my parents and bridal party to clean up after our exit. I found these awesome, easy to clean up streamers and am so happy with how they turned out!
This extension cord power strip so we had plenty of outlets for phones and curling irons.
Candle lighters for the tables.
Silk pillow cases as a gift for my bridesmaids!
LMNT for the bridal party to stay hydrated since we got married in the middle of August.

This steamer for all the dresses and suits.
Our favorite portable speaker for the bridal suite while we got ready.
Pretty Ring Box for detail shots.
My favorite chiffon ribbon for bouquets and detail shots.
