How to: Make an Extra $1000 THIS MONTH
Back in October I was looking for ways to make an extra buck or two. I came across a Facebook post from a fellow college student stating how she made lots of money with minimal effort and said I could, too.
I was obviously intrigued! But was this a scam?
Come to find out, she was a regular at a local plasma donation center- BioLife Plasma Services. I hopped onto BioLife's site to see what the catch was. Was it really that easy? Did it pay well? Was the plasma saving lives?
Sureeee enough I was tickled to find the answers to all my questions and more. I have now been a regular donor at BioLife since October of 2020. It is quick and easy money, plus it saves lives. Since I started donating in October I have made approximately $2,000. You can, too.
Below, I will break down a lot of common questions I get and tell you how to get started. Not in Springfield, Missouri? That's okay! BioLife Plasma Services has locations all across the US, so there's probably one close to you.
To sign up go to biolifeplasma.com and click become a donor, then register. It will walk you through the general application questions and ask you to set up your first appointment.
Schedule a physical and donation for your first appointment. This first appointment will take 2-3 hours as you will do a physical, fill out paper work and donate. After your first appointment, the average time for appointments takes about an hour or less (in my experience). It will ask you which location you'd like to donate at so you can select one near you. (If you're local to Springfield, Missouri there are two in Springfield and I recommend Erie St., I have not been to the other location, but I'm sure it's nice too.)
Before your appointment, on the day of, I encourage you to eat a protein rich meal and drink a ton of water. Like, really. Drink more water than you think you need to. This will ensure your protein and iron levels are more than sufficient to help with replenishing after your donation and help you not feel sick. Being hydrated is super important so your veins are easy to find and the blood flows faster.
When you arrive for your appointment, check in at the front desk and they walk you through everything. At your first appointment when they sit you down and have you show ID, tell them the promo code MOBILE1000 and I would greatly appreciate it if you give them my name for your referral (Lauren Lindsay). Right after this they will set up your compensation method. When your account has been all set up and physical approved, you will donate!
Donating plasma is super simple! A skilled phlebotomist will greet you, sit you in a comfortable chair, clean your arm and get you hooked up. In my opinion, it is not painful at all! Of course everyone is different and it is possible to get a 'bad poke', but those are few and far between. The first few donations may feel slightly uncomfortable as you get used to the needle and blood-flow, but listening to music, playing on your phone, reading a book and bouncing your feet all help distract from any discomfort. After your first two times or so, you will be a pro and not even notice the needle. Something else important about donating plasma is it is not as hard on your body as donating blood. When donating plasma, the machine draws your blood, separates the red blood cells from the plasma then returns your red blood cells and IV fluids back into your blood stream. Since you get your RBC back, there isn't a ton of blood loss and you're less likely to feel sick. At the very end you will get a lot of IV fluids and this sometimes makes you a little cold feeling, so don't be alarmed and maybe bring a jacket or blanket.
Compensation is awarded in the form of a BioLife Debit Mastercard. It works exactly how a normal debit card does, you can use it in any store or online. If you'd rather, you can transfer the funds to your regular bank account. You are paid immediately after each donation, as soon as they scan your plasma bag. Typically when I walk out of the building the funds are in my BioLife debit card account. You keep the same card and funds are added after each appointment. You can find your account balance, keep track of purchases and see coupons/promotions if you download the BioLife app. It works similarly to a banking app. At first I didn't love the idea of using their card, but honestly it's been fine and is no different from a normal debit card. I use my money for groceries, gas, coffee, etc. every week.
New donors receive THE MOST compensation in their first month of donating. Every month's promotional compensation is different, but it is usually $600 or $700 for new donors. THIS MONTH IT IS $1000! To receive this promotion, you must tell a worker your code (MOBILE1000 for this month) when CHECKING IN. This large compensation is not awarded to you all at once, it is awarded a little at a time each time you donate. For example, if you start donating with the current promotion MOBILE1000, your compensation will be anywhere from $60-$100 per donation, totaling $1000 at the end of your first month (if you go twice a week). They will break this down and explain to you if you have further questions on how the break downs work. After your first month, keep an eye out on the app or via email for weekly promotions as they happen a lot and offer more money on certain days sometimes.
Referral bonuses are super easy and beneficial! Every time a new donor donates and shares your name as their referral, you are awarded anywhere from $50 to $200 (depending on the month) simply for referring them. This referral compensation is deposited into your account after the person you referred has donated twice. I love referring people because it is easy money for them, easy money for me and we are saving lives. After you have donated twice, tell your friends to use your name as a referral and you'll get a bonus, too! PS- I would greatly appreciate it if you give them my name for your referral (Lauren Lindsay) if this post helped you.
